Who is The Medder Gallery and Why do we Exist?
The origin of the Medder Art Gallery
Like so many ventures, The Medder Gallery was created following rejection and a wish to help. The ethos is simple; to promote the Unsung but skilled Artist.
For a few years I had been trying to obtain gallery representation for my long standing friend, the Ukrainian Artist, Michael Velychko. When the war in Ukraine started he asked for my help in earnest; a request I was determined to do my best to achieve.
The solution finally came to me that I should set up my own gallery. It was a slow process of realisation that the only way to achieve success is to do it myself and to build up a wonderful and supportive team who are able to do things that I am physically unable to do.
Values that set The Medder Gallery apart from other galleries
The gallery is based on a true desire to help the Artist. Art is created out of skill, passion and innate talent. Art so created needs to be seen by the world. The gallery is a way to support the Artist and for me personally to give back for the beauty that the Artist creates and for the joy that each canvas brings. To me “Art is a must-have to be Happy”.
Gallery Ethos
Whilst the Internet is a wonderful tool, I believe in face-to-face contact where possible. Art is personal; it comes out of the artist’s mind and speaks to each viewer in different ways.
In addition, however advanced the camera, paintings always look better in real life. Therefore, in addition to being an on-line showcase, the Gallery also hosts special viewing events and displays paintings in many locations. The goal is to have a physical gallery too but specific paintings can always be shown to prospective buyers in Suffolk and London with destinations further afield possible by arrangement.
